The ringer is indeed loud, however the volume of the speaker doesn't appear to be any louder than any other phone we have had (which have not been specifically for those with hearing impairments), even when the "boost" is selected. We have opted to use it on loudspeaker rather than the boost. The answer machine is also not particularly user-friendly - the buttons on the base unit are small and at the side (and therefore difficult to see); there is a very small flashing icon on the main screen which indicates that there are new voice messages (again, difficult to see); and to delete answer machine messages you have to work through the menu options using the handset (a simple delete button on the base unit would have been better). All in all, I'd say it wasn't quite what it makes out to be. We have decided to keep it as it was a reasonably priced and the ringer volume is good. Freehearingtest have a no quibble money back guarantee - so I'd recommend trying it out to see what you think.
