The Phonak Cassia was first launched in October 2010 and replaced the highly popular Certana Art model. Phonak’s positioning of the product at launch was focused on two aspects of this product range. Firstly "surprising size and looks" – we think that means surprising in a pleasant way, as the products do look good and are built using Phonak’s small hearing aid cases. Secondly, Phonak took the angle of "full wireless functionality and accessories" and it is still true today that this is the key to the Cassia range. The size and look claim is enhanced through a wide choice of ten different products, five behind the ear and five in the ear. The behind the ear models are available in wide variety of colours so it’s fair to say that Phonak have given potential buyers plenty of scope to find something to suit their individual requirements. In addition to the core ten product formats, The Phonak Cassia is also available in the very small Nano format. A Phonak Nano is an extremely small device that fits deep within the ear canal and is claimed to be virtually invisible. It is certainly very discreet and correctly fitted to your ear could be a very cosmetic solution. The wireless connection of hearing aids has been an arena in which Phonak have historically been a very strong player. The Cassia will connect to a number of specific Phonak accessories including a wireless streamer that fits around your neck, a TV transmitter and three different remote controls. These devices are not cheap and come on top of the price of a hearing aid but if they are useful within your lifestyle then they can really enhance the hearing aid experience and value that you get from a wireless product. As well as Phonak’s accessories the wireless connectivity enables Cassia products to connect with compatible household devices, such as your mobile phone, television or MP3 player. All in all, if you are after a good sound technology which you may use in conjunction with wireless devices the Cassia is a strong starting point and should be carefully considered before moving on to more expensive alternatives.
