The Ignite 30 range of hearing aids is manufactured by Starkey and is the upper technology tier of two product portfolios. Both are positioned as "entry level" products but the Ignite 30 is more technically advanced with a greater feature set than its more basic sister range the Ignite 20. Starkey is a respected American manufacturer of hearing aids consistently ranked amongst the world’s leading suppliers, uniquely it is the only US company amongst an industry dominated bye the Europeans, particularly the Danish! The Ignite 30 is powered by a six channel processor, two more than the Ignite 20. The advantage of having more channels is that when the product is programmed the hearing aid audiologist can fit the shape of the amplification across different frequencies to a profile that is more precisely compensating for your specific loss. Six channels across a standard bandwidth should be the basis for a close match and therefore provide comfortable listening with the beneficial amplification applied where it is most needed. The algorithm suite is not as wide-ranging as more technically advanced products but it does cover all the essentials of comfortable listening. There is a standard set of feedback cancellation and noise reduction, as well as a speech enhancement function of all which it shares with the Ignite 20. Over and above it boasts a mode to enhance use with the flatten frequency output of televisions. It is marketed in a wide range of shapes and styles with two BTE (behind the ear) models and four ITE (in the ear) products. The ITE versions range in size and while the smallest may be the most cosmetically appealing there is a loss of functionality and performance as one drops in size. The last word is invisibility from Starkey is a product format called the Xino which is a very small hearing aid that is located completely within the ear canal. Not all canals are suitable for the Xino and one could be better off considering all formats until advised by the hearing aid audiologist will best suit your requirements. The Ignite 30 is an entry level pitch and there are more technically advanced system available form Starkey and other manufacturers but if this is your first foray into hearing aids or if you have modest needs for additional amplification the Ignite 30 may well be ideal. In summary: Ignite 30, part of the Ignite range of hearing aids from Starkey, offers even better performance along with great value for money. Available in a variety of styles, these hearing aids provide great sound quality and comfort.
