Amplified Mobile Phones Review: Amplicomms PowerTel M6000

Amplified phones are designed to improve communication for the hearing impaired and the Amplicomms M6000 mobile phone can do exactly that.

Video Transcript For The Hard Of Hearing:

This is reviewed by Freehearingtest of the Amplicomms PowerTel M6000. This is probably one of our most popular amplified mobile phones. As of all the amplified mobile phones here at Freehearingtest this phone can be used on any network using any SIM card, whether it is pay as you go or a contract, so you can keep your numbers and your current credit, etc., simply just put your SIM card in the back of the phone and this phone will be ready to use. There is one exception which is the three network which wouldn’t with the M6000 but all of the others of well known Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, O2, etc., even the Virgin and Tesco and various other mobile providers, all of them will function in this phone, and that's one of the key benefits of all the mobile phones here at Freehearingtest is their ability to be used without having to change your phone number and to keep your existing SIM card.

The M6000 from Amplicomms is a much louder mobile phone than a standard mobile phone and it is up to 30 decibels in terms of maximum amplification and to give you an indication, the standard mobile phone might provide something around 7-10 decibels in terms of maximum volume, so it's–and because the decibel scale is logarithmic and not linear, it is certainly several times louder than a standard mobile phone. In addition, you can see some of the other features this phone has, is an extra large screen here which is a colour screen, the buttons are very, very easy to read with a black background and white text. Several features of the actual phone itself, you can see here, M1, M2, and M3, those are the speed dial numbers for this particular phone, so you can program in your favourite number, and access them really quickly and easily by just pressing one of these three buttons.

The phone itself is also Bluetooth enabled, so you can connect to it with various other Bluetooth devices, so that will include Bluetooth headsets, etc., for handsfree, although you can actually also looking at the side of the phone, you can actually connect the headset to the phone through this point here which is just covered at the moment by a little cover but that's where you would plug in your headphone socket and then here you have your volume control for the phone. On the back is where the battery compartment is located inside where you would also place the SIM card. This here is quite a good little feature, this is an SOS feature, and this basically is designed when activated to contact a series of pre-programmed numbers to let those people know that the phone or rather the owner of the phone requires some emergency assistance, so a very good feature that.

In addition, you also have the ability to charge the phone through this power socket here, albeit that it is designed to sit in this little cradle and the power supply to the back here, if you are traveling, we don't want to use the cradle, you can remove the cable from the back of the cradle and use it to charge the phone through this point here.

So all in all a very good phone from Amplicomms, particularly good value. It's good in the hand, it's got good ergonomics, a nice large screen and large font. So a very good phone and now a very good value for money.
